Most of the time, power comes when we choose our self to be the one instead of waiting to be chosen, or waiting to be asked.
When Mrs. David Stuart, the wife of a farmer/steel worker in my growing-up, Appalachian farming community, found out about telephones and decided she wanted one, she went to the phone company.
Someone there told her she had to have a petition with 50 names on it, and then the phone company would string the wire and put in the poles so that she could have a phone.
Someone at the phone company wrote the petition for her. Like most people of that time and place, Mrs. Stuart barely had a sixth grade education.
She came home, and the next day after the men folk went to work, she walked from house to house—there were no two-car families in those days— and got the wives to sign her petition.
No one dared say, “I have to wait and ask permission from my husband.” No woman refused to sign.
Mrs. Stuart got her fifty names and her telephone. When the men folk protested, the phone company only said that fifty people requested phone service, so, of course, they had to give it to them. Done deal. End of story.
Mrs. Stuart did not wait for someone to choose her, to appoint her, to get telephone service to her community. She chose herself.
We can do the same. We can choose our self to be the one to bring newness, or to change a situation or circumstance.
And, we can do this with the help of Mother/Father God and the angels.
Angels of All of Us
Angels of all of us,
We are grateful that we know that knowing is more powerful than believing.
We know that Mother/Father God and you angels are with us 24/7, in the rain and in the sunlight. We are never alone and we are never without ideas, information, energy, support, nurturance and protection.
For this, we give thanks.
We see what has to be done; we choose our self to be the doer knowing that all is and will be well.
We give thanks for all our accomplishments and for your support.
And so it is.
