Hello Everybody,

What is the Law of Congruence? How does it affect prayer?

Last week, we talked about the first thing to do if prayer isn’t producing its intended result.

The first thing we do is use the Law of Mental Equivalence and both clarify and strengthen the blueprint or mold or description we are bringing forth of the condition that we desire.

We use this law to make certain that the Creative Mind knows exactly what we are seeking, and that it has no doubt about how things are to be.

This week, we are discussing the second thing to do: examine the Law of Congruence and our use of it concerning our prayer.

The Law of Congruence

The Law of Congruence states that two things come together and agree.  When we are using the Creative Process, the conscious and the subconscious mind must agree.

We will get our new job if the conscious mind and the subconscious mind are in agreement about it.

However, if the conscious mind says, “Wow! A new job! Awesome!” but the subconscious mind says, “No. You don’t really want to work. You want some more time off”, you won’t get the job.

The Conscious Mind

The conscious mind is responsible for all actions that are preformed while you are conscious, aware, and awake.

The conscious mind is also known to be the gate keeper for the mind. It acts as a filter.

If someone tried to present you with a belief that doesn’t match your belief system, then your conscious mind will filter that belief and not let it in.

In other words, the belief isn’t congruent or in agreement with already held beliefs.

If for example, someone told you that you are “dumb”, your conscious mind will filter this statement and let you realize that you are not really dumb.

The Subconscious Mind

The subconscious mind obeys the commands it receives from the conscious mind—up to a point.

It stores all of your previous life experiences, your beliefs, your memories, your skills, all the situations you’ve been through and all the images you’ve ever seen.

The subconscious mind is the storage place for habitual thinking, believing and feeling. When you face a new situation, it automatically sends these habitual patterns to you.

So. If you have the habit of being unemployed and you consciously, with awareness, decide to get a job and you are offered employment, your subconscious mind will find a way to block this change. It will automatically remind you, in many ways, that your habit is to be unemployed.

In this situation, the subconscious will not obey the conscious.

Getting Into Congruence

There are four ways to bring the conscious and subconscious mind into agreement.

We use:

  • Words—both written and spoken
  • Images—both drawn or collaged (vision boards) or the images we speak
  • Pretend
  • And, Ask the Angels

Write and speak out-loud your prayer or the change you want to experience. Use ten-cent, every day, ordinary words. Define what you mean by words like health, wealth, prosperity, success and any others that you think everyone understands, but, when you talk to others, you find that others define the word differently.

Image the change you are praying for. Use the images you made for use with the Law of Mental Equivalence discussed last week, but this time show them to your subconscious mind and say, “See. This is what I mean. See how nicely this change helps you do your job of keeping me alive.”

Also, form this image in your mind. As you do this, point out details like:

“Look how friendly and helpful everyone at my new place of work is. Wow. Everything is so neat, orderly and clean.”

Pretend that your prayer has been answered just the way you want it to. Pretend you have the new job. Pretend your energy level has been restored. Pretend your business is experiencing the growth you desire. Pretend your children are healthy, happy and safe.

By pretend I mean to act out the desired change. If you don’t know how to do this, ask young children to teach you how. They are experts at this kind of play-acting.

And, of course. We always, no matter what, ask the angels for help.

When you speak to them say something like:

“Angels,

I know my conscious and subconscious minds are at odds. I want a change, and the change isn’t coming.

I know I have habits and past experiences that are probably blocking this change, this thing I’ve affirmed in prayer.

Would you please bring these two minds together as one about this change? Would you please help me understand how to communicate with my subconscious mind so that it willingly and easily partners with my conscious mind?

Thank you angels. I am so very grateful for the work you do for me.”

And so it is.
