Solution for Drug/Gang/Elder Poverty

May 31, 2018

Hi Everyone,

In the early 1970’s, I taught third grade at Easton Elementary School which is near Morgantown, WV, the home of West Virginia University. Easton served a blue-collar, rural area. It was a Title 1 (poverty) school.

Along came MacMillian Publishers. For one year, they sponsored a tutoring program at Easton. The tutors were moms and other interested persons from the community. MacMillian provided training for these moms, materials and an on-site trainer. Students were tutored individually and in small-groups daily.

Results

At the end of that school year, according to national tests, each of my students gained a year or more in achievement. That means that if a student entered my class reading at a first-grade level, he left reading at a second-grade level.

The fact is that every student left my class for grade four reading at a third-grade level or higher.  This was so for all areas including math. No student left third grade scoring below grade three in any area of learning.

The tutoring paid off. The extra attention, the extra teaching, the having an extra person rooting for them made this happen.

Solution

So. In view of the drug crisis, the neighborhood and school violence crisis and the elder poverty crisis, I suggest that every child in America receive daily tutoring.

That’s every child: poverty, wealthy, rural, inner-city, public school, private school, conservative, liberal. Every single child.

One-to-one tutoring gives every child someone extra in their corner, someone who not only listens and teaches, but who, also, observes, takes note, gives help or finds help for the student.

Consider that if someone had observed certain needs of certain individuals, the school shootings might not have happened. Consider that if someone had given encouragement, hope and direction certain individuals  might not have taken drugs or joined gangs. Consider that if someone helps lift someone up, helps them stand and then stand alone, individuals might see alternatives to gangs and violence.

Who Tutors

There are many retired teachers who would love to work with children but who no longer desire to manage a classroom. There are many retirees who would welcome the chance to increase their income and do good.

Remember that MacMillian trained the moms and interested people in the neighborhood. These folks didn’t have college degrees. They had a desire to help their kid and the other children in the neighborhood.

Providing a one-to-one daily tutor for each child could be a major piece of the solution for ending drug, gang and violence in our schools and neighborhoods.

It is certainly a way to end elder poverty. Grandmothers,  grandfathers and other retired persons would be perfect tutors.

Healing Happens

There is a national call to end the drug/gang/elder poverty crisis in our nation. A healing is needed.

Healing does not happen unless there is a vision, a why and a how.

The vision is each child in American receiving daily, one-to-one tutoring so that learning is enhanced and problems spotted and resolved.

The why is to end the drug/gang/elder poverty crisis.

The how is to employ retired folks, trained them to tutor, observe and problem-solve and then assign them as tutors to the students. Some of the student problems a trained tutor could spot and help solve are rejection and loneliness or homelessness and hunger or fear of bullies and gangs.

The details are left to each of you who sees that daily,  one-to-one tutoring for every child  is a viable, workable piece needed to help our schools and communities become safe, peaceful, fun and productive places.

And so it is.

PTSD

Aug. 29, 2017

Hi Everyone,

Did you know that PTSD can happen to anyone experiencing any type of disaster or stressful situations including people who divorce, or have surgery, or have had to endure a foreclosure or repro of a car?

This weekend, I  took an online seminar about healing.

I’ve met two Holocaust survivors before this seminar. I have no doubt that it happened, that  it was horrifying and people are still suffering from it.

Attending the seminar was a woman born the year I was to parents who sheltered Jews in the Netherlands. Her mother lived in terror. Even after the war the mother was so terrified she wouldn’t leave the home. The  seminar attendee now my age was suffering from terrified inner child and PTSD from growing up in fear. I saw the terror in and on her and saw some of it dissolve.

This happening is a reminder to treat others with great kindness and gentleness because we just don’t know what another is dealing with.

Let us ask the angels of all of us to send extra healing and energy to those who are suffering and to those who feel the pain of others so deeply that they deny that the Holocaust or Sandy Hook happened.

Let us receive from the angels extra healing, energy, love and strength so that we can be a pillar of light and supply to those in need.

And so it is.

The Question

Aug. 28, 2017

Hi Everyone,

Many of us are puzzled: if we are whole, perfect and complete, then why are we constantly told to heal?

If we are whole, perfect and complete, then what is there to heal?

Perhaps we have this question because we have an incorrect definition of healing.

Healing Defined

Healing is the actions we take to move us closer to Spirit.

The actions we are encouraged to take are those that remove what’s in my way. We take a look inside of us to see what to accept, and what to let go.

Our angels can help with this.

Angels of All of Us

Angels of all of us,

Thanks for being here. Thanks for guiding, protecting and encouraging me.

Help me to examine myself. Help me to determine the thinking, believing and actions of me that are to be accepted because they are truly me. Help me determine the thinking, believing and actions of me that are to be let go.

I easily let go of what must be gone. I celebrate, value and strengthen what is to be accepted.

I love me. I love life. I love angels.

Thank you for being with me this day and all days.

And so, it is.

Heal Financial Frustration

Jan. 20, 2016

Hi Everyone,

How is financial frustration healed? What do we do for our self and for others who’ve worked hard, done everything the financial experts said to do and still remain outside the flow of all good?

The Call
I received a call from a very angry, frightened and upset middle-age man today. The man threatened to destroy his city because he felt that he wasn’t getting help to make his business financially successful.

When he stopped talking about the military, bombs and getting even, he admitted that he loved his people, and he wanted to help them and his city greatly improve their economy.

Ho’oponopono the Answer
When I asked the Universe what to do, Ho’oponopono Clearing was the answer. It is a healing technique that can be done long-distance, without the person’s knowing or having to get permission to act on their behalf.

Steps
Go to the Ho’oponopono Clearing section of this blog and download the worksheet.

On the white space near the chant draw a stick figure. Label it “the caller”. The Universe will know who we mean. When you say the words, look at the figure.

On the first line where it says “write the problem here, write “financial failure”.

Now repeat the chant for 15 minutes. When you get to the “clean, clean, clean” part, pretend the man has his spine in front of you. Place your hands on either side of his spine and move outward. When you get to the “erase, erase, erase” pretend that you are making circles on the part of the man’s back that would be his scapula’s and rib cage.

At the end of 15 minutes, for the next five minutes, repeat the part that says, “Into this cleansed space, I now place: peace, ease, love, joy and solutions”.

End with “And so it is”.

Self
Do the same thing for yourself. Do this every day for a week. Draw a stick figure to represent you. Write your name under the figure.

Please send an email telling me the results you get.

In the spirit of the Christmas Challenge:

You are perfect just the way you are, and I love you.
